IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Zina Lauraetta
Holt
March 24, 1927 – September 5, 2019
Zina Lauraetta (Tomlinson) Holt, 92, Adrian, MO, formerly of Archie, MO, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019 with family by her side at Adrian Manor, Adrian, MO. Graveside services were held Monday, September 9, 2019 at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, MO. Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, Butler, MO.
Zina was born March 24, 1927 in Prosperity, AR, a daughter of Albert and Laura Belle (Kilgore) Tomlinson. She was married November 2, 1946 to Harvey Holt. On May 31, 1951, they welcomed their first child, Laura, in to their lives. Then on April 19, 1953, they added another daughter, Gail. Three years later, Earl joined them and soon after came sister, Donna. Zina worked for Montgomery Ward in the packing and billing department until 1966. The family moved to Archie, MO in 1966. Shortly after the move, she started to work at the D-Li-My as a cook until the restaurant was sold. She then went to work for Wal-Mart, retiring at age 83. She worked hard all her life and enjoyed her retirement.
When the girls were young, Zina loved to watch them play softball. She went to every game, and the station wagon was always full of girls going to and from the games. When her children were in high school, she attended every basketball game that she could. Later she enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Leslie's volleyball games, high school through college.
Thanksgiving and Christmas was always special. She would get up early to make pies. Not just a couple but many. She would make pumpkin, chocolate, coconut and sometimes a custard pie. She was always trying to teach Laura and Gail, but they had no interest in learning. She was thrilled when her granddaughter, Alyssa, expressed an interest. After she taught her to make the pies, Alyssa was assigned the job of pie maker and noodle maker every year. She loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some may say she had a favorite when actually her favorite was the one she was with at the time. She loved it when her family took her to Red Lobster for lunch. Dessert was always a contest between her and her great-granddaughter, Bailey, who was going to get the most. The family laughed, and have some funny pictures of them and their desserts.
Zina was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, her parents, Albert and Laura Belle Tomlinson, her grandparents, Clark and Nellie Kilgore, two sisters, Helen and Frances, and two brothers, Charles and Paul Henry. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Holt (Greg), Kansas City, Gail Morrow, Adrian, Donna Hansen (Bill), East Moline, IL; one son, Earl Harris (Jackie), Garden City, MO; three granddaughters, Leslie (Gregg), North Kansas City, MO, Alyssa (Alex), Lee's Summit, MO, Lisa (James), Carbon Cliff, IL; two grandsons, Christopher (Ami), North Kansas City and Scott (Angela), Corpus Christi, TX; 14 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Drew, Reagan, Brylee, Autumn, Katelyn, Ashlynn, Lacey, Julian, Amber, Natalie, Abygail, Brittany and Via.
