Wilma Louise Silver, 90, Adrian, MO, died Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Vintage Park at Paola in Paola, KS. Funeral services 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the First Baptist Church, Adrian with visitation 1:00-2:00 Tuesday at the church. Burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. Contributions may be made to the Julie Silver Memorial Scholarship.
Wilma was born January 25, 1917 in Burdette, East Boone Township, Bates County, MO, the daughter of Elmer Lee and Maude (Roach) Lacy. Most of Wilma's life was spent in the Burdette community. She was a 1935 graduate of Adrian High School. She then attended Southwest Baptist College in preparation for a teaching career. She taught at the Lone Star Community School in rural Bates County. Wilma married Robert Wesley Silver on April 4, 1937 in Bates County, MO. Together they farmed in the Burdette community where they raised their five children. They moved to Adrian in 1980.
Wilma was involved in 4-H. She was a member of the Adrian First Baptist Church and regularly attended Sunday school. Wilma enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and reading. Wilma was a loving mother who relished her time with children and grandchildren. Her spirited independence was an inspiration to family and friends.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, on September 25, 1993, one brother, Glenn Lacy, one sister, Fae Fritts and one granddaughter, Julie Silver. She is survived by three sons, Allen Silver and his wife, Sharon, Paola, KS, Rod Silver and his wife, Sue, Paola, KS, Phil Silver and his wife, Barbara, Rowayton, CT; two daughters, Linda Lankford and her husband, John, St. Louis, MO and Patricia Vukcevich and her husband, Steve, Clarksville, MO; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
