William "Bill" Mawson, 93, Archie, MO, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at Adrian Manor Nursing Home in Adrian, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the Atkinson Chapel in Archie, MO. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, at the chapel. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Archie FFA Chapter.

William was born August 11, 1918 in Archie, MO, the son of Alonzo L. and Mary L. (Christiansen) Mawson. He married Anne Karpuk on September 15, 1944 in Fort Scott, Kansas.

William lived his whole life near Archie on the family farm. He attended Clay Hill Country School and graduated from Archie High School in 1936. He was a proud farmer his entire life, providing sustenance for this country for over seven decades, raising livestock and row crops. Many will also remember him for the watermelons he raised. You could still see him hoeing watermelons this past summer.

William was a member of the Archie First Baptist Church and the Missouri Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Roger Mawson; two sisters, Mildred Mawson and Dorothy Vansandt and one brother, Alvin "Pete" Mawson. He is survived by his wife, Anne, of the home; two sons, Ronald Mawson and wife, Debbie and Rodney Mawson and wife, Kay, all of Archie, MO; one daughter, Rita Mawson Fobian and husband, Clark, Sedalia, MO; two sisters, Marjorie Burch, Athens, Georgia and Merrilee Mickelson, Freeman, MO; 7 grandchildren, Daphne Mawson Ramsbottom and husband, Mike, St. Louis, MO, Aryliss Mawson Hamilton and husband, Travis, Archie, MO, Andrew Mawson and wife, Lee Ann, Raymore, MO, Kerri Fobian Henness and husband, Steve, Columbia, MO, Todd Fobian, Marion, Alabama, Callie Mawson and Mackenzie Mawson, Archie, MO and 8 great-grandchildren.
