William James "Little Jimmy" Dalton, Jr., 21 months, Lake Annette, Missouri, died Friday, May 30, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.
Little Jimmy was a good baby. No. He was a great baby. He brought love and joy to all who knew him. A beautiful boy, he had the cutest button nose, a pouty mouth and chubby cheeks. He could be mistaken for a doll if not for a wry, dazzling smile that showed the sweet spirit inside. With dark hair and dark eyes he cut a dashing figure in his smart little outfits. He was quite the clothes horse for someone his age, having already amassed a large wardrobe of designer clothes. Most were donated by his many fans. His fans being virtually anyone who ever he met. Daddy always made sure he was best dressed when going out.
He liked to watch TV while eating. He liked some cartoons, but oddly, seemed most engaged by old black and white movies on TCM and an occasional Lawrence Welk big band number. He was also a football fan. He supported the Chiefs and Sporting KC. Little Jimmy loved to play. His favorite toy? Anything that made a sound; like his truck, walkie-talkie, jet plane, and even a workbench just like daddy's, with life-like sounding saws and drill press. If a toy didn't make sound on its own, he would help by throwing it down or banging it on something.
Other hobbies included climbing, standing on things, and making messes (he excelled at all three). Chairs, toys, empty boxes, whatever he could find he'd try to get atop. Sometimes he combined these activities, as when he climbed into the rocking chair and stood quietly while taking all the DVDs off the shelf.
He loved one thing more than anything else and that was his daddy. Whenever he heard the back door open he would immediately perk up, knowing daddy was back. Spending time outside with daddy, working on the truck or the yard was the best. And the feeling was mutual. No son has ever been loved more than Jimmy loved Little Jimmy.
We have lost our Pumpkin Buddy and we will never be the same. Our grief can only be outweighed by the joy we experienced for having known such a beautiful soul. He will live forever in our broken hearts.
