William James "Jim" Icenogle, 59, Camdenton, MO, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, MO. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Community Christian Church in Camdenton, MO. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 or the Westminster College Memorial Fund, 501 Westminster Avenue, Fulton, MO 65251.
Jim was born August 10, 1949 in Kansas City, MO, the son of William E. and Barbara (Wilcoxson) Icenogle. On May 13, 1972 he was united in marriage to Victoria Elizabeth Russell.
Jim grew up in the Kansas City, MO area and graduated from Southwest High School. He continued his formal education at Westminster College in Fulton, MO where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After graduating from Westminster in 1971, Jim entered the Navy, enrolled in Naval Officer's Training School, in Newport, RI and later completed training at the Naval Salvage and Diving School in Washington, D.C. Jim remained in the Navy until 1974 and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He served as an Operations Officer, Diving and Salvage Officer, and Executive Officer on the USS Apache and attained the rank of Lieutenant.
Following his military service, Jim continued his education by enrolling in the University of Missouri Law School in Columbia and graduated with a Jurist Doctorate degree in December, 1976. After completing his legal education, Jim moved to Camdenton, MO, where he practiced law with his father until his father's death in 1998. Jim was first elected Prosecuting Attorney of Camden County, MO in 1980 and continued to serve in that office until his death. He was the President of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys in 1993. Jim also served on the Alumni Council of Westminster College from 2002 until 2007; was an Eagle Scout, Tribe of Mic-O-Say; and was a member of Community Christian Church in Camdenton, where he had served as both a Deacon and an Elder.
Jim is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Vicki, of the home; one son, Chris Icenogle, Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Elizabeth Icenogle, Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Susan Icenogle, Leawood, KS and Sarah Schwarz and her husband, Tim, Jackson, WY and one grandson, William Daniel Icenogle, Kansas City, MO.
