William Scott Hammond, 69, Latour, MO, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at his home. A memorial celebration of Scott's life will be at the home at a later date. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice, 9233 Ward Parkway, Suite 201, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Scott was born June 28, 1938 in Sumter, South Carolina, the son of William Samuel and Callie Mae (Henderson) Hammond. The family later moved to Freeport, Florida where Scott grew up.

Scott served in the U. S. Navy from 1955-1958, than moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where he met and married Georgean Jerman on February 1, 1964. They lived in Florida for a short time before moving to East Lynne, MO where they raised their three sons. Scott and his wife later moved to Rogers, Arkansas until Scott's retirement from Wal-Mart and moved back to Missouri in August, 2006.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathryn Hammond, four brothers, Joe Hammond, G. L. Caswell, Harold Caswell and Ray Caswell and two grandsons, Bodean Wray Hammond and Christian Wray Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Georgean, of the home; three sons, David Lee Hammond, Rogers, Arkansas, Scott Hammond, Latour, MO and Delbert Wray Hammond and his wife, Melanie, East Lynne, MO; grandchildren, Emily Nicole Hammond, Jeffrey David Scott Hammond, Mikayla Lynn Hammond, William Joshua Wray Hammond, Derric Bodean Hammond and Zachary Cole Hammond; foster daughter, Rita Steele; two brothers, Emory Hammond, Defuniak Springs, Florida and Vester Hammond, Harrisonville, MO; three sisters, Clarkie Wiekel, Hudson, Colorado, Maude Wilcox and her husband, J. B., Bonifay, Florida and Nellie Mae Waggoner, Defuniak Springs, Florida and many nephews and nieces.
