William T. "Junior" Gilbert, 88 ,a long time resident of West Line, MO passed away peacefully Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO, comforted by his beloved family.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the West Line Christian Church, West Line, Missouri. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, July 15 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Junior was born June 8, 1926 in Kansas, a son of William Thomas and Oma Mae (Stainbrook) Gilbert. After attending Freeman High School, Junior worked as a carpenter and later joined Local 777 of the Carpenters Union. Junior joined the West Line Christian Church on March 9, 1947. He was united in marriage to Ruth Irene Moul, April 20, 1947.

Junior was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Ruth, who died on December 2, 1990, and his parents, William T. Gilbert and Oma M. Peyton. He is survived by five daughters: Ruth Ann Dane (Ron), Cleveland, MO, Susan Sidwell (Bill), Freeman, MO, Becky Bigham, Louisburg, KS, Nora Evins (Jim), Belton, MO, and Tracy Gilbert. Grandchildren: Andrea Laughlin (Tony), Gregg Gilbert (Jocelyn), Kendra McClellan (Mark), Amy Scott, Clay Sidwell (Mindy), Alicia Huff (Greg), Anthony Evins, Andrew Evins (Jesse), Megan Bairrington (Billy), and twenty-one great-grandchildren. A brother, Marion Gilbert, Bates City, MO, and a brother-in-law, Oliver Craycraft, Peculiar, MO as well as several nieces and nephews.
