William "Bill" Bradford Sherwood, 87, Independence, MO, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at his home.  Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO with burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs.

Bill was born December 24, 1930 in Harrisonville, MO, the son of Willard Bradford and Minnie Lee (Ellison) Sherwood.  Bill was a U.S. Air Force Korean War veteran.  He had worked for TWA in Kansas City, MO as an aircraft mechanic for 23 years before retiring.  Bill was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Independence, MO, and a member of the American Legion Post 42, Harrisonville.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Willard Bradford, his mother and stepdad, Minnie and Andrew "Andy" Matthew, his wife, Margie on August 14, 2015, and a brother, Charles Sherwood.  He is survived by one son, Darren Sherwood  (Cheryl), Independence, MO; one daughter, Karen Thomas (Randy), Blue Springs, MO; 5 grandchildren, Dustin Slaven (Amy), Jon Slaven (Grace), Neal Thomas, Melissa Thomas, and Eshelle Smead, and 5 great-grandchildren, Elena Slaven, Makla Smead, Harper Smead, Kendal Smead, and Porter Smead.
