William "Bill" Alan Sidwell, 73, of Freeman, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his home in Freeman with his family by his side. A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Interment in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kansas City VA or a Veteran charity of your choice.
Bill was born May 10, 1948 in Windsor, Missouri, a son of Harry Dean Sidwell and Sylvia Mildred (Stewart) Sidwell. He married Susan Gilbert on May 19, 1972 at Harrisonville Christian Church. Bill served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he spent his career as a sheet metal worker working for Metcraft. He was a resident of Freeman for over 40 years. Some of his greatest enjoyments were spending time with his family at the lake house, fishing on his fishing boat and piloting his ski boat. Bill spent countless hours pulling kids and adults alike on the tube and pulling skiers all over Pomme De Terre Lake.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Danny Sidwell; nephew, Sid Sidwell; and great-grandson, Nathan Peek. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan; his children: Shelly (Oren) Peek of Garden City, MO; Lloyd Sidwell of Miami, OK; Eugene Sidwell of Belton, MO; Kendra (Mark) McClellan of Freeman, MO; and Clayton (Mindy) Sidwell of Harrisonville, MO; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard (Sharon) Sidwell of Garden City, MO; his sister-in-law, Janie Sidwell of Garden City, MO; Levi, his faithful dog and many extended family and friends.
