Wilbur Ray Wagenblast, 87, Peculiar, Missouri, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his home. Friends may call from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19 at the First Baptist Church in Peculiar. Masonic services will be at 2:00 with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be in West Union Cemetery, Cleveland, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Peculiar.
Wilbur was born March 4, 1925 in Andrew County, Missouri, the son of Charles C. and Bessie (Etchison) Wagenblast. He lived in Amber, Oklahoma before moving to Adrian, Missouri in 1945. He married Louise Dahm on June 19, 1948 in Peculiar where they had lived since 1949.
Wilbur was a farmer and a rancher and had worked for Beyer Crushed Rock as a truck driver for 20 years before retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peculiar; member and past Master of the Grand River Masonic Lodge #276, Freeman, Missouri and member and past Worthy Patron Order of Eastern Star Elizabeth Chapter in Belton, Missouri. He was also a member of the Teamsters Local #41.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lloyd Wagenblast and Floyd Wagenblast and one grandson, Captain Christopher B. Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Louise of the home; two daughters, Marie Woolery and husband, Jerry and Margaret Johnson and husband, Ron, all of Peculiar, Missouri; 4 grandchildren, Kim Cooney and husband, Joe, Camdenton, Missouri, Michael Bradley, Belton, Missouri, Branden Johnson, Ft. Lewis, Washington, Andrew Johnson, Alden, Kansas; one step-grandson, Keith Woolery and wife, Katie, North Kansas City, Missouri and 10 great-grandchildren.
