Wilbur Allen Jones, 78, Archie, MO, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home in Archie. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at the Church On The Rock in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in the Austin Cemetery, Archie, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 at the Atkinson Chapel in Archie.

Wilbur was born July 25, 1932 in Amoret, MO, the son of Wiley Burton and Nelle Elizabeth (Caldwell) Jones. He was a 1950 graduate of Amoret High School. On October 8, 1955 he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Cameron.

He served in the U. S. Air Force. Wilbur retired from AT&T after 30 years. He was an avid golfer and a dedicated sports fan. He went to as many games as he could and especially loved watching his grandchildren play. He enjoyed playing cards with this friends and family. He was a loving father and husband.

Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years, Patricia, one grandchild, Autumn Daugherty and three brothers, Arthur Lee Jones, Lawrence Jones and Frank Jones. He is survived by one son, Doug Jones and his wife, Jackie, Archie, MO; four daughters, Vicki McKee and her husband, Larry, Yukon, OK, Kay Hernandez, Adrian, MO, Sue Flanagan, Harrisonville, MO and Gail Wood and her husband, Mike, Grandview, MO; 10 grandchildren, Brian Hayes, Adam Hayes, Erin Daugherty, Noah Flanagan, Jared Flanagan, Luke Wood, Nathan Wood, Zachary Wood, Jonas Jones and Brittany Jones; 9 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
