Obituary

Wendell L. Yeager, 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021 at his home in Harrisonville.  Funeral services were held  on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville.  A Masonic Service was held before the funeral service, Wednesday at the church.  Burial  in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.  The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Harrisonville United Methodist Church or to St. Croix Hospice.

Wendell was born October 11, 1936 in Marion, Indiana, a son of Oliver W. and Doris  Laverna (Murch) Yeager.  He grew up in Marion and was a 1954 graduate of Marion High School.  He continued his education by receiving his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Wendell was united in marriage to Barbara Voss on September 8, 1957 in Marion.

Wendell moved to Harrisonville in 1967 and was the Manager of the Anaconda Wire & Cable Plant, later the Anaconda/Erickson plant until 1984.  Wendell was Vice President of Manufacturing for ITT Cable and BICC Cable and worked at manufacturing plants throughout the northeast until his retirement in 1998.  Wendell and Barbara returned to Harrisonville after his retirement to be closer to family and friends.

Always active in community affairs, Wendell was a charter member and the first president of the Harrisonville Rotary Club, a member of Cass Masonic Lodge #147 in Harrisonville and Ararat Shrine in Kansas City.  He was a member of the Cass County Historical Society and the Harrisonville United Methodist Church.  He also served on the board of directors of the Harrisonville Public School Foundation and  C.J. Roberds MFG in Harrisonville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Humphrey; and Ryan's wife, Laura.  Wendell is survived by his wife, Barbara Yeager, of the home; a son, Scott Yeager and wife, Jana, Sugar Land, Texas; a daughter, Darcy Humphrey, Harrisonville; and three grandchildren: Kyle Humphrey, Reid Yeager and Hope Yeager.
