Wayne A. Smith, 83, of Harrisonville, MO, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Jefferson Healthcare in Lee's Summit, MO.  A memorial visitation was held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville.

Wayne was born April 5, 1939 in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Albert Earl and Nellie Mabel (Craig) Smith. He married Cynthia Kay Stephens on February 14, 1970 in Harrisonville, MO. Wayne had worked as an automotive and tractor mechanic his entire life. He was an avid stock car racer for 31 years.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cynthia, on August 17, 2014; one son, Chad Smith; one brother, Billy Smith; and two sisters, Ruby VanSandt and Mary Jane Knox. He is survived by six sons: Terry Smith, Belton, MO; Gene Smith, Creighton, MO; Shawn Smith, Raymore, MO; Don Smith, Raymond Gilbert, and Jay Smith, all of Archie, MO; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
