Wayne N. Johnston, Jr. 54, of Independence, MO, died Thursday, November 27, 2008 in Independence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO, with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. The family will receive friends Tuesday 10:00-11:00am at the chapel.

Wayne was born January 17, 1954 in Jefferson City, MO, a son of Wayne Nelson and Janette Jean (Quick) Johnston. Wayne grew up and attended school in Belton, MO before moving to Independence 28 years ago.

He was a machinist. Wayne was a member of the Independent Baptist Church in Independence, MO.

He is survived by his daughter, Candy Hall, Sedalia, MO; his parents, Wayne and Janette Johnston, Peculiar, MO; a brother, Richard Johnston, Peculiar, MO; three sisters, Linda Kihn, Belton, MO, Alverda McReynolds, Grove, OK, and Diana Boos, Peculiar, MO; 31 nieces and nephews.
