Wayne Andrew Henson, 85, Drexel, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Funeral services were held Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri Burial, with military honors, will be in the Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Missouri.
Wayne was born April 8, 1930 in Smith Bridge Township, Macon County, North Carolina, the son of Carter Wesley and Nell Ann (Cabe) Henson. He married Donna Lee Jackson on January 6, 1952 in Topeka, Kansas. Wayne was a 20 year member of the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1969 as a Tech Sergeant. He was an avid bowler, and had owned and operated Countryside Lanes Bowling Center in Belton, Missouri. He had lived in Kansas City, Missouri area since 1970.
Wayne was a member of the Harrisonville Elks Club and The Worship Center in Harrisonville.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Donna Lee, on May 20, 2004. He is survived by one son, Brad Henson (Leisa), Overland Park, Kansas; one daughter, Pam Schmitz (Ed), Drexel, Missouri; one brother, Farrell Henson, Gastonia, North Carolina; one sister, Shirley Miller, Candler, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
