Walter Wayne Bishop, 89, Drexel, MO, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, MO. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans (DAV).

Wayne was born April 9, 1923 in Cass County, MO, the son of Walter Franklin and Norma (Dawson) Bishop. He was a graduate of Archie High School and was a lifelong Cass County, MO resident. He married Mary Lou Burchett on July 22, 1949 at the Archie Baptist Church in Archie, MO. Wayne was a dairy farmer. He was an Army Sergeant, serving in WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Lou on May 29, 2007. He is survived by one son, Dr. Charles Bishop and wife, Jean, Weatherby Lake, MO; one daughter, Barbara Haseltine and husband, David, Houston, TX; one brother, Clifford Bishop, Drexel, MO; four grandchildren, Megan Haseltine, Brooklyn, New York, Phillip Haseltine, Houston, TX, Stephanie Crowl and husband, David, Houston, TX and Andy Bishop, Los Angeles, CA and his dog, Sissy.
