Obituary

Wayne Albert Bentlage, 53, Greenwood, Missouri, died Thursday, June 5 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 12 at the United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit, Missouri. The family will receive friends after the service. Private burial will be held in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ryan Bentlage College Savings Fund, PO Box 124, Greenwood, MO 64034.

Wayne was born December 19, 1960 in Ogden, Utah, the son of Ervin Albert and Glenda Alyce (Pilkington) Bentlage. He was a graduate of Rock Bridge High School in Columbia, Missouri and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Economics from The University of Missouri in 1985. Wayne married Linda Alm on November 2, 1991.

Wayne owned Bentlage Consulting, Inc. in Greenwood and was a member of the Summit Business Group. He was sought out as an expert in commercial and residential property taxes and residential property values and was held in high esteem in the business community. His business demeanor was focused upon honesty, fair dealings and always being available with a positive attitude.

His priorities were always well placed – family came first. Wayne's love of Linda always meant "that we are going to have a good time no matter what." His most important characteristics were being a strong, honest husband and admired father.

Wayne's best friend was his son, Ryan. They enjoyed life together to the fullest extent possible. Ryan has learned how to be a man from his father. The love of the outdoors was strong in Wayne and he passed those traits to Ryan through personally teaching him about dirt bikes, hunting, cutting firewood, and planting trees. Wayne never shied away from hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in Ryan. No matter what Wayne did, he always included Ryan. While Wayne would never talk about himself, he would always brag about Ryan.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda, and his son, Ryan Wayne Bentlage, Greenwood, Missouri; his parents, Ervin and Glenda Bentlage, Columbia, Missouri; four brothers, Philip Bentlage (Carolyn), Hartsburg, Missouri; Keith Bentlage (Roya), Sudbury, Maine; Carl Bentlage (Marci), Centralia, Missouri; and Dale Bentlage (Aimee), Ankeny, Iowa; five nieces and five nephews.
