Obituary

Virginia L. Ferguson, age 82, of Adrian, Missouri, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Adrian Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Adrian, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2009 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Virginia, one of five children, was born April 20, 1927 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Lloyd E. and Ethel A. (Fisher) Ackerley. She was married to Lester Moles and to this union, two children were born, Sue and Neal. In 1966 she married Jim Ferguson, who had two sons from a previous marriage, Jimmy and Fenton. The family resided on a farm west of Adrian, Missouri.

During her lifetime, Virginia enjoyed many different career endeavors, some of which included, switchboard operator, inspector at Bendix; she waited tables, sold Avon, worked as a produce manager, and worked with Jim on the family farm. When they retired from farming they purchased the local liquor store and ran it until they retired.

Virginia enjoyed crappie fishing, camping, entertaining and being with her family and friends. Virginia loved playing solitaire, doing crossword puzzles, cooking and watching game shows. She and Jim loved playing cards and made many trips to Las Vegas and the boats in Kansas City.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Ferguson, three brothers, Gene Ackerley and his wife, Fern, Mike Ackerley and Harold Ackerley and his wife, Dorothy and one niece, Beverly Prough. She is survived by a sister, Gerry and her husband, Cecil Prough; sister-in-law, Gretchen Ackerley; her sons and daughter, Neal Moles and wife, Peggy of Drexel, Missouri, Sue Anderson and husband, Kenny of Adrian, MO; Jim Ferguson and wife, Diane of Adrian,MO and Fenton Ferguson of Lathrop, MO; 12 grandchildren, Lori, Brent, Derek, Amy, Jason, Robb, Danny, Brianne, Jeff, Mike, Tabetha and Jenny and 14 great-grandchildren.
