Virginia "Ginger" Claudette Phillips, 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Medicalodge of Butler in Butler, Missouri. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Interment in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville.

Ginger was born January 17, 1937 in Parsons, Kansas. She was raised by her grandmother, Gertrude Shears, whom she considered to be her mother. Ginger married Johnathan Benjamin Phillips on January 24, 1953 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They lived in Parsons, KS and Kansas City, MO before moving to Harrisonville in 1963, where they remained until his passing in 2007. She spent her life taking care of her family and was a member of the Coleman Baptist Church in Peculiar, Missouri. She will be greatly missed by all those she leaves behind.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two sons: Johnny Dean Phillips and Mark J. Phillips; and one daughter, Tori Phillips. She is survived by her daughter, Sheena Humphrey of Harrisonville, MO; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; her brother, Jack Shears of Harrisonville, MO; and her sister, Lola Baer of Parsons, KS.
