Virgil Francis Lunceford, 93, Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Harrisonville, MO with visitation from 9:00-10:00. Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Benchmark Healthcare of Harrisonville.

Virgil was born March 20, 1919 in Sni-A-Bar, MO, the son of Virgil Otis and Margaret Viola (Williams) Lunceford. He was a graduate of Grain Valley High School. Virgil had lived in the Independence, MO area for most of his life, before moving to Harrisonville.

Virgil married Frances M. McGee on June 20, 1975 in Independence, MO. He worked as a mechanic for the City of Independence before his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Independence.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances on November 29, 2011, one sister, Helen Antonio and one brother, Eugene Lunceford. He is survived by one daughter, Lanabeth Horgen and her husband, Harald, Bellevue, WA; one stepson, Howard Knox, Blue Springs, MO and his "son", his namesake, Virgil McCullough, Portland, OR.
