Violet Jean Brewster, 87, Peculiar, Missouri, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22 at the First Baptist Church in Peculiar with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Peculiar First Baptist Church.
Violet was born April 1, 1929 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Andrew Gilbert and Jessie Ann (Denton) Terrell. She married George Eugene Brewster on August 22, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. Violet had lived in Lee's Summit, Missouri and Martin City, Missouri before moving to Peculiar on April 17, 1965. She worked in the cafeteria for Raymore-Peculiar Schools for 13 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Peculiar.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; four sons, David Corder, Ridge Manor, Florida, Bradley Brewster, Peculiar, Missouri, Alan Brewster, Parkville, Missouri, Ellis Brewster, Liberty, Missouri; one daughter Canda Johnson, Mansfield, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
