Viola Ruth DeVore, 77, Adrian, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Adrian with burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian. No visitation. Contributions may be made to the Bates County Food Pantry.

Ruth was born October 7, 1937 in Otterville, Missouri, the daughter of George Nelson and Gertrude Lanone (Ellington) Smith. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1955 and from the Nevada Missouri School of Nursing as an LPN in 1967. Ruth was a devoted nurse in several states for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, crocheting, crafting, painting and visiting with family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Nelson "Bud" Smith, and two nephews, Michael Durbin and Lloyd Smith. She is survived by children, David Osborn and Tammy Baker, Debbie Wood, Dennis and Bernadette Osborn, Dianne Osborn and Roland Connor, Darrin and Terri Devore, Danny Devore; one brother, Theodore and Donna Smith; one sister, Dorothy and Don Durbin; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
