Vera Jestine Brown, 91, Harrisonville, MO, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Freeman Baptist Church, Freeman, MO with visitation from 5:30-6:30. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 12 at the Osborne Cemetery in Osborne, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Vera was born October 25, 1919 in Portis, KS, the daughter of Chet and Sabina (Knoll) Conn. She attended school in Lawrence Creek, Kansas. Vera married Loyd Johnson on October 25, 1937. To this union three children were born. She later married Wayne Brown on December 22, 1951.

Vera was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Osborne, KS. She was a member of Cayuga Mission Church in Grove, OK and attended Freeman Baptist Church, Freeman, MO. She worked for Michalas Mill Work for 20 years making custom windows. She was a hard worker and during the winters of 1992-1997, Vera worked at Mr. Goodcents. During the summers, she enjoyed fishing. She loved to embroider, spend time with her family and participate in the neighborhood ladies club.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, Loyd Johnson and Wayne Brown and two sisters, Lola Lindgren and Elmyra Lindgren. She is survived by two sons, Loyd Adelbert Johnson and his wife, Kathy, Falmouth, MA and Larry Andrew Johnson and his wife, Judy, Grove, OK; one daughter, Edith Louise Bobo and her husband, Frank, Harrisonville, MO; two sisters, Velma Shinn and Gilberetta Brown and her husband, Leonard, all of Osborne, KS; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Johnson, Eric Johnson, Tammie Kukoleca, Debra Coble, Donna Sawken, Bruce Johnson, Tammy Crook, Pamela Birchfield and Linda Wise; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
