Velma Frances Stephens, 77, Harrisonville, MO, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville. Services 11:00 AM Saturday, December 1 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Burial in Brady Cemetery, Harrisonville. Visitation 6:00-7:30 PM Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Harrisonville Public School Foundation, 503 S. Lexington, Harrisonville, MO 64701, in memory of Velma Stephens.

Velma was born October 14, 1930. She held various positions with the Cass R-IX School District and retired in December, 1995 after 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald, of the home; three daughters and their husbands, Donna Stephens and Tony Thomas, Peculiar, MO, Dianne and Rick Saffels, Harrisonville, MO, Debra and Jerry Elarton, Belton, MO; one son, Doug Stephens, Harrisonville, MO; and her pride and joy, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Stacy, Stephanie, Sabrina, Chris, Alex, Baylee, Drew, Jarett, Colten, Sierra, Peyton, Trenton, Jonathan and Jackson. She is also survived by her brother, G. T. Lawson, Harrisonville, MO and several nieces and nephews.
