Velma Lucille Redwine, 93, Raymore, MO, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Graveside services were held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Raymore Cemetery in Raymore. Memorial contributions may be made to Raymore Lions Club.
Velma was born January 1, 1928 in Kingsville, MO, the youngest daughter of six children, to Ray and Carrie (Beard) Shippy. She lived in Grandview, MO and Raymore, MO most of her life. She married William "Obie" Redwine on November 1, 1944
Velma was a member of several community organizations including the Raymore Lions Club, where she was a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award; a member of the Richards-Gebaur Community Base Council for 15 years; member of the Raymore Park Board for 10 years; Raymore Community Betterment Association from 1972-2017, and the LDS Church in Lee's Summit, MO. Velma owned and operated child care out of her home for 30 years.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Obie Redwine on June 15, 1977; one son, Ronald Redwine; four brothers; and one sister. She is survived by two sons: Bob Redwine (Anne), Louisburg, KS; and Chuck Redwine (Nancy), Naples, FL; one daughter, Carol Atkinson (Dale), Harrisonville, MO; 8 grandchildren: Zachary Redwine, Sarah Giordano (Pete), Kirk Redwine, Dr. William Bret Redwine (Dr. Furha Cossor), Jill Pires (Carl), Dan Hunt, Stephanie Hornbeck (Ryan), and Rebecca Leveridge; and 13 great-grandchildren.
