Obituary
Velma Leona Anderson, 102, Peculiar, MO died Saturday, July 23, at her home in Peculiar. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Peculiar, MO. (Cremation). The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Avant Ministries Memorials, 10000 North Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64115 or to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 325, Peculiar, MO 64078.
Velma was born December 20, 1908 in Clay Township, Wayne County, Iowa, the daughter of Newton and Adelia G. (Robinson) Coffey. She married Burl W. Anderson on August 8, 1982. Velma had worked for AVANT Ministries as a missionary in Colombia, in northwestern South America, for 39 years.
She is survived by a foster son, Ferley Camelo, Colombia; a stepdaughter, Sandra Anderson, Arizona, one sister, Dorothy Smith, Peculiar, MO; one niece, Karen Smith, Peculiar, MO and three grandchildren.
