Thomas "Tom" Ray Chandler, 60 of Butler, MO, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Bates County Memorial Hospital in Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Butler. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 28 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tom Chandler Love Fund c/o Atkinson Funeral Home, P.O. Tom was born February 25, 1950 in Butler, MO, the son of Russell H. and Marjorie M. (Camerer) Chandler. He was a 1968 graduate of Butler High School.
Tom was a dairy farmer since he was 15. He started his own farm in 1992. He was a charter member of the Elks Lodge in Butler. He was on the Bates County Fair Board and was a member of the Bates County Cattlemen Association. He enjoyed rodeos and had participated in many when he was younger. He also participated in the Cattlemen's Golf Tournament each year.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Chandler. He is survived by his father, Russell Chandler of Butler, MO; one son, Justin W. Chandler and his companion, Matt Davis of Lenexa, KS; one daughter, Tina Jennings and her husband, Lyle of Butler, MO; three brothers, Wesley A. Chandler and his wife, Janie of Butler, MO, Jim Chandler and his wife, Marty of Foster, MO and Scott Chandler and his wife, Debbie of Passaic, MO; four grandchildren, Tiffany Chandler, Josie Jennings, Kyla Chandler and Kara Chandler; one great-grandson, Jayden Chandler and several nieces and nephews.
