Thelma Ellen Baer, 89, Harrisonville, MO, died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Advent Evangelical Church Cemetery in Moniteau County, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Women, Harrisonville.
Thelma was born February 22, 1923 in Boynton, MO, the daughter of William Jessie and Edith (Baumgardner) Rodgers. She grew up in the Milan, Missouri area. Thelma married Harold Lee Baer on November 20, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri. She lived in Kansas City before moving to Peculiar in 1969 and moved to Harrisonville in 1991. Thelma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Harrisonville hospital.
Thelma lived a life of service to family and friends. She did not know a stranger and always took time to make sure the needs of others were satisfied before her own. Her lessons of service and charity will be cherished and carried on by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold, on February 25, 2000. She is survived by two sons, Rex Baer, Harrisonville, Missouri and Roger Hubbard, Raymore, Missouri; one daughter, Pat Brewer, Pasco, Washington; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
