Thelda Jean Arnote, 84, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at Brookdale Rosehill in Shawnee, Kansas. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial in Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville.

Jeannie was born July 2, 1940 in Willhoit, MO, a daughter of Charles Everett and Nancy Lena (Thomas) High. Her mother lost her life in a house fire when Jeannie was 8, and she was raised by her paternal grandparents, Bender and Cora High. Jeannie was a 1958 graduate of Gainesville, MO High School, and was proud to be the class Valedictorian.

Jeannie was united in marriage to Larry Allen Arnote on June 6, 1961 in Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Kansas City before moving to Harrisonville. Jeannie was a paralegal and worked for the law firm of Crouch, Spangler, and Douglas in Harrisonville for over 50 years before her retirement. She loved fishing, was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Jeannie was dedicated to her family and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Harrisonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry Arnote, on April 1, 2024; a son, Kenneth Stearns; and three sisters. Jeannie is survived by her two grandsons, Mason (Donna) Stearns, Raytown, MO, and Mike Muller, Raymore, MO;  five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Linda) High, Basehor, KS; four sisters: Wilma Heil, Amarillo, TX, Judy Dungan, Fulton, MO, Lucy Waterdown, Tulsa, OK, and Lisa Palmer, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
