Susan G. Yoakum, 66, of Independence, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 5, 2025 at her home in Independence.  A Memorial Service was held  on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri. Inurnment in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO.

Susan was born December 16, 1958 in Olathe, Kansas, a daughter of Clifford Frank and Verna Mae (Gould) Yoakum. She spent her early years in Archie, MO on the family farm and was a 1977 graduate of Archie High School. She continued her education at Southwest Missouri State and St Luke's, receiving her BA in Nursing. She worked and moved to Independence and Blue Springs in 2004.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald Yoakum and Richard Yoakum. Susan is survived by a daughter, Megan Hawkins, Whitestone, NY; a son, Brock Heckadon, and his wife, Janet, and their daughter, Lillian, San Antonio, Texas; two brothers: Mark Yoakum, Colleyville, TX; and David Yoakum, Kimberling City, MO; and many other relatives and friends.
