Steve John Kosh, 91, Milan, Michigan, died Monday, August 25, 2008 at the Evangelical Home of Saline in Saline, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 29, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, MO. Friends may call from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the chapel. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO.
Steve was born June 10, 1917 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the son of Steve and Katie (Gaspar) Kosh, both originally from Hungary. He was christened in St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Lebanon, PA. Steve was a prize fighter when he was younger and he also raced midgets and stock cars. He married Hazel Lorraine Carnes on April 14, 1952 in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Steve was a War II Army veteran. He then studied agriculture at the University of Arkansas. During his professional life, Steve worked for Tecumseh Products for about three years. He then worked for the University of Michigan as the supervisor of maintenance and plant operations for 20 years before retiring in 1979. He had lived in Michigan for 56 years.
Steve enjoyed boating, riding snowmobiles and racing motorcycles. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and camping.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Anne Irene Weirich, Margaret Clara Aunspach and Helen Rebecca Ream and two brothers, Julias Michael Kosh and James Kosh and one niece, Dianne Louise Kosh. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hazel, of the home; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
