Stephen "Steve" Sherwood Durgan, Sr., 70, Bigfork, MN, formerly of Independence, MO, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN.  Funeral services were held Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Burial in Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.
Steve was born August 14, 1948 in Muskegon, MI, the son of Sherwood E. and Muriel M. (Benson) Durgan.  He was a graduate of Whitehall High School where he was a drummer in a band called "High Spirits".  Steve was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.  He married Nancy McKenzie on November 21, 1990 in Independence, MO.  He had lived in Independence before moving to Bigfork, MN five years ago.  Steve owned and operated S.S. Durgan Painting in Independence, retiring in 2010.  He loved hunting and fishing.

Steve is survived by his wife, Nancy, of the home; one son, Stephen Durgan, Jr., St. Joseph, MO; one daughter, Stephanie Durgan, Lindale, TX; his father, Sherwood Durgan, Muskegon, MI; his mother, Muriel Harwood, Muskegon; two brothers, David Durgan, Independence, MO and Daniel Durgan, Sugar Creek, MO; two sisters, Susan Meyers, Fruitport, MI and Cynthia Molyneux, Whitehall, MI; two step-daughters, Julie Ganyo, Archie, MO and Diana Anderson, Peculiar, MO; two grandchildren, Jonah Jeans and Stella Ormiston of Lindale, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
