Sharon Kay Skelton, 80, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. Per her wishes, cremation will take place and services will be held at a later date.

Born on June 5, 1946, in Bolivar, MO, Sharon was a beacon of resilience and grace. As the daughter of Vernie and Ethol (Stewart) Austin, she blossomed in the vibrant community of Independence, MO, where she graduated from William Chrisman High School.

Sharon dedicated 26 years of her career as an account manager with Amoco Oil Company in Sugar Creek, MO. Her work was not just a job; it was a part of her identity that she embraced with diligence and pride. Over the years, she called both Kansas City and Freeman, MO, home, eventually finding solace in the picturesque surroundings of Mountain Home, Arkansas, for 15 years before returning to Kansas City.

Sharon was not just a mother and sister; she was a friend to many and a source of unwavering support. Her favorite title was that of Nana; proudly cheering on her grandchildren throughout their lives. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, strength, and unconditional love, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sharon is survived by her son, Thomas Giamalva, Kansas City, MO; a brother, Roy Austin, Independence, MO; and two grandchildren.
