A private burial will take place at Peculiar Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.
Born on January 22, 1948, in Canton, Oklahoma, to Theodore and Vera (McClaran) Oyler, Sandra was a beacon of compassion and warmth, known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Sandra graduated from high school in her hometown and continued her education at Phillips University in Enid, OK. On May 28, 1971, she married the love of her life, Fred San Nicolas, and together they built a nurturing home that would become a sanctuary of love in Kansas City and later Peculiar, MO.
With a heart dedicated to service, Sandra embarked on a fulfilling career in nursing. She touched countless lives through her work, beginning at St. Mary's Hospital, and later devoting her talents at Camden, Cass Regional Medical Center, and St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City before retiring in 2010. Her patients knew her not just for her skill, but for the genuine care and concern she showed to everyone.
A longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Sandra found joy in her faith, family and community. She filled her days with activities that brought her joy, including canning, playing Bingo, quilting, crocheting, and sewing. She loved volunteering at the Cass County Rescue Mission. However, it was the time spent with her loved ones that truly filled her heart with happiness.
Sandra was known for her quick wit and often remarked, "must be nice," a humorous response that became an endearing part of her persona. She possessed resilience and courage that shone brightly throughout her life, particularly during her recent health challenges. Her light-hearted demeanor and caring nature will surely be missed by all who knew her.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Maurice Oyler, Max Oyler, and Erwin Oyler; and her sister, Linda Henson. She is survived by her husband, Fred San Nicolas; her children: Joey (Melissa) San Nicolas, Jennifer San Nicolas, and Michael San Nicolas; her grandchildren, Diego and Jack San Nicolas; her grand puppies, Bravo and Charlie; as well as, many extended family and friends. In her honor, may we continue to exemplify the compassion she showed to everyone around her.
