Sandra Kay Highley, 72, of Kearney, Missouri, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Adrian Volunteer Fire Department or to the Alzheimer's Association.

Sandy was born on October 23, 1953, in Butler, MO, to Richard and Jewel (Gillis) Wimsatt. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1971 and went on to build a dedicated career at BC National Banks where she began as a punch card operator and retired as an Executive Vice President. On August 4, 1973, Sandra was united in marriage to Owen Highley of Adrian, MO. Together, they shared a loving life and were blessed with one son, Joshua.

Sandy found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, who were truly the center of her world. There was nothing she would not do for them, and she took great joy in spoiling them. A phrase remembered by her family was, "Don't tell your parents". She faithfully attended her grandchildren's activities and rarely missed an event. She could often be found cheering on Ben at his games and proudly watching Kate at one of her activities. She was also a fan of the Beatles and enjoyed watching baseball, especially admiring Kansas City Royals legend George Brett, whom she always thought was quite handsome.

Sandy had a special love for babies and dogs, and could often be found wherever there were little ones to visit with or a dog to pet. Her caring nature was evident to all who knew her. She was always quick to give to others and was known for her generous spirit and willingness to help anyone in need. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her strong work ethic, and the kindness she shared with those around her.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Richard Wimsatt, and her brother, Richard "Yogi" Wimsatt. She is survived by her husband, Owen Highley; her son, Josh Highley, and wife, Sarah; her cherished grandchildren, Ben and Kate; her mother, Jewel Wimsatt; her brother, Randy Wimsatt, and wife, Vicki; as well as, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
