Sally L. Allen, 95, Harrisonville, MO, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 20 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Sidney, Iowa. Sally was born April 6, 1913 in Lamar, Colorado, the daughter of Walter and Laura (Tiger) Pierce. She was one of six children.

While living in San Francisco, Sally was united in marriage to James Van Allen on August 28, 1939. Together they had one daughter, Judith Allen. They moved to Harrisonville over sixty years ago. Sally was elected Recorder of Deeds for Cass County, Missouri and served two terms in the 1970s and 80s. Sally was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sports and mowing her lawn. She was a very devoted member of the Harrisonville First Baptist Church, singing in the choir and playing the organ.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Van, in 2004 and her daughter, Judith, in 2007, three brothers and one sister. She is survived by one sister, Ruth Martin, Wayzata, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Sara (Welch) Poe and her husband, Greg, Champaign, Illinois, Anne (Welch) East and her husband, Gary, Harrisonville, MO and Charles Welch, Champaign, Illinois; four great grandchildren, Nicholas and Eric Poe and Sam and Libby East.
