Obituary

Ryland "Barney" Temple Barnes, 77, Garden City, MO, died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Adrian with visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Crescent Hill Cemetery in Adrian. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.

Barney was born February 23, 1935 in Lexington, MO, the son of Ollie and Maude (Adams) Barnes. Barney was one of 13 children. Barney managed the President Hotel in Kansas City, MO in the late 50's; he drove a taxi for the American Cab Company in the early 60's, and was a Master Auto/Body Mechanic in the late 60's until injured in a train wreck in the 70's.

Barney was loved by all who knew him and he blessed their lives. Even though he was disabled most of his life, he was Superman to most; the man from Quitanus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cecil Warren, Dorothy Mace, Ruby Jones, Thelma Oliveria, Goldie Fortner and Mary Elizabeth Barnes, brothers, Henry Barnes, William Barnes and Marvin Barnes. He is survived by Nina Smith of Warsaw, John (Pearl) Barnes of the home, Garden City, MO, Jewell (Frank) Dogle of Independence, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
