Obituary

Ruth Mae McKee, 92, of Harrisonville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home on the Roving Ridges Farm. Funeral services were held  Saturday, February 4, 2023  at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO. Burial in the Peculiar Cemetery, Peculiar, MO.  Contributions may be made to the Freeman Baptist Church.

Ruth was born May 30, 1930 in Freeman, MO, a daughter of James Edward and Gladys Bell (Smith) Brewster. She was raised in Freeman and was a graduate of Freeman High School.  Ruth attended college in Warrensburg, MO for two years, received her teaching certificate, and then taught school at Rocky Point Rural School # 82, north of Everett, MO from 1948-1951.

Ruth was united in marriage to Eugene David "Eaf" McKee April 14, 1951 at the Freeman, MO Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Joe Brewster. They made their home in Greenwood and Peculiar before moving to  the Roving Ridges Farm, west of Harrisonville.  Ruth loved working on the farm and was a member of the Freeman Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eugene, a son, David McKee, and a brother, Robert Brewster. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Debbie Walker and husband John, Overland Park, KS; her twin sister, Ruby Jaynes, Harrisonville; a daughter-in-law, LeeAnn McKee, Harrisonville; three grandchildren, Katie Halter and husband Ryan, Overland Park, KS, Daniel McKee, Harrisonville, Tara McKee, Raymore, MO, and one great-grandson, Beckham Halter. Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
