Russell Eugene Walker Jr., 59, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at his home in Harrisonville. Funeral services were held  Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville. Burial in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrisonville Animal Shelter, because of Russell's fondness of his cats.

Russell was born on June 25, 1965, in Harrisonville, MO, a son of Russell Eugene and Cathryn (Peek) Walker. Russell was a lifelong Harrisonville resident and a 1983 graduate of Harrisonville High School. He had worked in the press room at the Democrat-Missourian newspaper in Harrisonville and the Kansas City Star in Kansas City. For the last 14 years, Russell worked as a machine operator for Sioux-Chief in Grandview. He was very involved with his nieces and nephews, attending all their birthday parties, and spent many years caring for his aunt, Martha Walker.

He was preceded in death by his father and his two aunts, Martha Walker and Margaret Brownfield. Russell is survived by his mother, Cathryn Saville, Garden City, MO; his brothers: Butch Moses, Cleveland, MO; Albert Moses, Harrisonville, MO; and Danny Saville, Versailles, MO; his sisters: Vickie Winter, Garden City,  MO; and Debra Ann Shemeling, Des Moines, IA; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
