Ruby Schoonover, 88, Harrisonville, MO, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville. Services 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville. Visitation 6:00-7:30 PM Monday, January 21, 2008 at the chapel. Burial in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harrisonville First Christian Church or Crossroads Hospice.

Ruby was born March 11, 1919 in East Lynne, MO, the daughter of William and Hattie Pearl (Leasa) Knapp. Ruby was a graduate of Harrisonville High School. She married Byrl M. Hunt and to this union two daughters were born, Mary Ellen and Sheryl Ann. She later married Henry Clayton Schoonover on June 20, 1946 in Olathe, KS and to this union one son was born, Larry Dale.

Ruby worked at The Family Center in Harrisonville for many years before retiring at the age of 81. She had also worked at Conleys, Southside Drugs, Jack's Pharmacy and the Lee Theater. Ruby enjoyed music, dancing, picnics in the park and keeping up with the latest clothing styles and could out-shop anyone! She loved to shop, travel and spend time with her family and friends.

Ruby was a member of the First Christian Church, Harrisonville, joining in 1932. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary since 1970.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry, January 23, 1982, three brothers, Ralph, Virgil and Lloyd Knapp and one sister, Verda Moreland. She is survived by one son, Larry Dale Schoonover and his wife, Valda, Harrisonville, MO; two daughters, Mary Ellen Horn, Harrisonville, MO and Sheryl Ann Lynn and her husband, Larry, Cooter, MO; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
