Ruby L. Richardson, 93, of Harrisonville, MO passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Golden Years.  Memorial Service were held Wednesday, April 13, 2022  at  the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, Missouri.   Inurnment will follow services at Glenwild Cemetery in Cleveland, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, 14310 E. 42nd St. South, Unit 600, Independence, MO 64055.

Ruby was born on December 16, 1928 in Freeman, MO, the daughter of William Jennings Bryan Prettyman and Mary Louisa Anne (Rinker) Prettyman. Ruby married Vernon Dale Richardson on December 20, 1946.

Ruby worked part time as a telephone company switchboard operator in Freeman before moving to Independence, MO and raising a family. She worked as a waitress, and then she and Vernon managed a gas station/restaurant for a short time. She did ironings out of her home for several years. She directed a few talent shows at Fairmount Elementary School while her daughters attended. She also worked occasionally at Sterling Bowling Lanes over a period of over 20 years, including coaching junior bowlers.

Ruby was on the board for the WIBC (Womens International Bowling Congress) for the Kansas City chapter where she traveled locally to sanction bowling alleys. Her personal bowling accomplishments include awards from the Greater KC USBC "Senior Woman of the Year 2006", Greater KC Women's Bowling Assoc. "Hall of Fame" inductee 1990, Women's International Masters bowling league "Sportsmanship" 1976-1977, MO State Women's Bowling Assoc. "Duchess"1999, Bates County USBC "Senior Bowler of the Year" 2016. In addition she was invited to join the Ladies' Professional Bowlers Assoc. in 1977. She also enjoyed spending time at their cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Dale Richardson; her parents: Bryan and Anna Prettyman; her two brothers: Donald and Bill Prettyman; two sisters: Margie Franse and Blanche Bokey. She is survived by her two daughters: Monna Maring and Beverly Ekstrand; her son, Kenny Richardson (Debi); four grandsons: Mark Ekstrand (Korene), Kevin Ekstrand (Dawn), Derek Maring (Amber), and Corey Maring; and 6 great grand-children: Luke, Wesley, Emeri and Mason Ekstrand, and Dalton and Caleb Maring.
