Ruby Jane Gillaspie, 82, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024 at Crown Rehab and Healthcare Center in Harrisonville, MO. A graveside service was held on Monday, July 1, 2024 at the Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, MO.

Ruby was born September 2, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas, a daughter of Jim and Helen (Moss) Vanhooser. She was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Harrisonville. She attended Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS and went on to attend nursing school. Ruby was a LPN and had worked at various health care facilities in the Harrisonville area. She was united in marriage to Gene H. Gillaspie on September 2, 1958. They were blessed with three children, who were raised in church and involved in church activities. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruby enjoyed her career as a nurse and spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with her family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Gene H. and Julie Gillaspie Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Shari and Bryan Davis; daughter-in-law, Hope Gillaspie; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jim Brinkley. She is survived by her husband, Gene H. Gillaspie, Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Trina Gillaspie; 7 grandchildren: Nathan (Shilo) Gillaspie, Brandyn (Amanda Riley) Davis, Janae Gillaspie, Jaron (Chelsea) Gillaspie, Ethan Gillaspie, Brayden Davis, and Makiya (Cameron) Ferguson; and 7 great-grandchildren: Jacob (Monica) Oliver, Samuel Gillaspie, Elijah Gillaspie, Zoey Davis, Remmington Gillaspie, Brantley Gillaspie, and Aubrey Gillaspie.
