Rosalie Cecil, 84, Harrisonville, Missouri, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Golden Years Nursing Home in Harrisonville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Atkinson Chapel in Harrisonville, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Missouri. Rosalie was born December 23, 1927 in Jamesport, MO, the daughter of Everett and Lena M. Saltzman. She married Virgil Cecil on July 18, 1953. Rosalie was born in the historic Harris Log Cabin in Jamesport, MO. At the age of 17 she became a Harvey Girl after working in some of the finest restaurants in Kansas City. After her marriage to Virgil, she worked as a beautician and was the manager of the Davidson Shoe Store on the Harrisonville Square. She retired when Virgil retired from General Motors. They enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques.
After Virgil's death, Rosalie moved to Harrisonville were she enjoyed doing needlework and spending time with her church family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She never knew a stranger. She was a true caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Virgil, one daughter, Saundra Lynn Cecil, three brothers, I. Dean Saltzman, L.D. Saltzman and Harold Saltzman, and one sister, Polly Lowder. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Cummins, Independence, MO; one son, Mike Cecil and his wife, Laura Beth, Harrisonville, MO; four sisters, Lola Calhoun Hamby, Raymore, MO, Alice Jenkins and husband, Bob, Kansas City, KS; Carol Sue Chase, Orange, CA and Nancy Tober, Anaheim, CA; one brother, Donald Saltzman, Lakeside CA; one granddaughter, Nichole Haar and husband Eric, Lee's Summit, MO; two grandsons, Bryon Cecil and Andrew Cecil; a great-grandson, Theo Haar; a great-granddaughter, Genevieve Haar; several nieces and nephews and friends.
