Ron was born April 29, 1936 to William and Alma (Reine) Lamphear in Friendship, WI. He grew up and lived in Friendship, graduating from Adams Friendship High School with the Class of 1955. Ron married the love of his life, Kathy Wilson, on June 2, 1956 in Wisconsin Dells, WI, and they relocated to Kansas City, KS, staying there until 1964. They later relocated to Mission, KS from 1964 to 1992, and then made their home in Harrisonville, MO for the remainder of his life.

Ron spent his career as a Locomotive Engineer, working for Union Pacific Railroad for 44 years until he retired in 1998. He was a member of the Wyandotte Masonic Lodge No. 3, was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, and was  a former member of the Brotherhood of Local Engineers. He attended Archie United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer with the Mission, KS Fire Department from 1965-1992.

Ron was a fun-loving individual who loved his family, the outdoors and all kinds of adventures.  He spent many summers at the lake, boating and water skiing and enjoyed snow skiing in the winter.  Elk and deer hunting were highlights and visiting the mountains or just being outdoors always made him happy.  He was affectionately known as "Pops" by his grandkids and always had some little trick to bring a smile to their faces.  He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandy Lamphear; and sister, Jean Casper. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Lamphear, of the home; his children: Pam (Jim) Heaton of Overland Park, KS; Michael (Susan) Lamphear of Ozark, MO; and Terry Lamphear of Kansas City, MO, bonus daughter, Laura Lamphear; his brother, Bob (Linda) Lamphear of Kansas City, KS; his 9 grandchildren: Alissa (Jason) Ruffin of Olathe, KS; Jamie Heaton of Overland Park, KS; Nic (Ali) Lamphear of Springfield, MO; Kyle (Nicole) Heaton of Shawnee, KS; Michael Lamphear of Kansas City, MO; Kevin (Alayna) Heaton of Kansas City, MO; Nora (Ben) Gaehle of Overland Park, KS; Matthew Lamphear of Kansas City, MO; and Emma Lamphear of Kansas City, MO; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
