Ronald "Ron" Keith Helt, 68, Harrisonville, MO, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO.    A memorial service was held Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.  Inurnment will be held at a later date in New Hope Cemetery near Concordia, MO.  Memorial contributions may be made to the New Hope Cemetery, via PayPal to: newhopemissouri@gmail.com , or, mail donations to: New Hope Cemetery, c/o Ben Helt, 11115 E 85 Terrace, Raytown, MO 64138.

Ron was born September 10, 1952 in Johnson County, MO, a son of Wilfred Albert and Lula Pearl (Getz) Helt.  Ron was a 1970 graduate of Harrisonville High School.  He married Peggy Sue Vanskike on June 9, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, officiated by Rev. Lawrence Wilson.

Ron spent a 47-year career in retail grocery, beginning as a sacker and quickly becoming a meat cutter. He was a member of UFCW Local 2 and retired in 2015. He was a long time member of Harrisonville Mennonite Church, and former member and president of the Harrisonville Christian School board of directors. Ron was also a recent member of Eagle Creek Church in Lee's Summit, MO.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wilfred Wayne.  He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of the home; one son, Benjamin Wayne Helt and his wife, Sarah, Raytown, MO; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth McDowell and her husband, Sam, Harrisonville, MO; five grandchildren, Zane, Brody, Savannah, Ava and Spencer.
