Roma was born November 9, 1922 in Goodnight, Texas, a daughter of Clarence Moody and Alda Amy (Wilmoth) Hudson. She was united in marriage to Harold Beard on February 22, 1947 in Goodnight, Texas
She grew up in the Panhandle of Texas and when she wasn't working on the family ranch, she loved to play basketball. She began work in the Civil Service computer industry, first in Washington D.C., then at Richards-Gebaur AFB in Belton, MO. She ended her career when she retired from the I.R.S. in Kansas City.
After retirement she enjoyed spending countless hours with her beloved family (especially the grandkids). She and her husband kept busy taking care of their large gardens. Roma was given the job of canning or freezing bushels of produce - especially the delicious beans and corn. She loved to tend to her flowers and enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders.
Roma came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and continued to read the Bible to gain strength and encouragement for each day of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Harold, on Septmber 13, 2007.
She is survived by a son, Andy Beard and wife Linda, Belton, Missouri, and a daughter, Fonda L. Burkart, and husband Wally, Belton, Missouri. A sister, Amy Leggett Binion, Amarillo, Texas. Four grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Raymore Rehabilitation Center Special Care Unit.
