Rogers was born November 12, 1930 in Walker, Missouri, the son of Henry and Mary (Shuhart) Saathoff. He was a Christian and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Although he did not attend church, he had great faith. He graduated from Adrian School and served his country in the Army in Germany for two years. On August 28, 1954, he married Goldie Nelson and celebrated 59 years with her.
He chose farming as his profession and was successful at what he loved. Each new year brought anticipation of working the land, sowing the seed, watching it grow and mature for harvest, and with his two sons, also had a feedlot of beef cattle. With exception of four years, he spent his life farming, until his health forced him to retire 13 years ago.
Rogers learned to fish at the farm ponds. Before his health failed, he enjoyed square dancing. He was a 4-H leader for many years. He especially enjoyed "game night" once a month with the family.
Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Marion and Lester and one sister, Aileen Harden. He is survived by his wife, Goldie, of the home; two sons, Garry Dean Saathoff and Randy Saathoff (Juan Aldama), all of Adrian, Missouri; two daughters, Ronda Horner (Mike), Adrian and Gayle Annette Warden (Danny), Butler, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Horner, St. Joseph, Mo., Michaella Horner Nisely and Marques, Adrian, Dwayne Warden and Megan, Lee's Summit, Mo., Bryan Warden and Raychel, Springfield, Mo. and Annette Warden, Warrensburg, Mo.; 1 great-grandchild, Breckin Nisely, Adrian, who entertained him almost every Wednesday for six years; two sisters, Maxine Morey and Della Lee; one brother, Lynn Saathoff (Joyce); many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
