Roberta Carol (Adams) Phillips, 78, of Richland, MO, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 surrounded by her family.  A graveside service was held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at West Union Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.    In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are encouraged to the Spring Valley Baptist Church Goat Ministry, 8801 E 79 ^th Street, Raytown, MO  64138.

Carol was born on September 11, 1942 in Richland, MO. Carol was a 1960 graduate of Ruskin High School, then attended Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, MO for two years before moving to Oklahoma Baptist University to complete a degree in teacher education.

Carol and her family were active in Spring Valley Baptist Church in Raytown, MO and it was there that she met Duane Phillips, when he was hired as organist in 1962, in spite of her strong opposition to the idea of this young man being hired as their organist!  It wasn't long before her opinion of Duane changed and on June 4, 1966, they were married at the church. He and Carol never had children of their own, but found other ways to impact young lives at Spring Valley, directing a children's choir, leading the Youth Group for over 15 years, and developing a Children's Church ministry that continues to reach area families to this day.

After Duane's death in 2012, Carol moved to Richland to live with her sister.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, her parents, Lawrence Everett and Mavis Rowene Sagaser, and one brother, Michael Everett Sagaser. She is survived by her sister, Dorinda Rowene Sagaser of Richland, MO; her brother, Steve Lawrence Sagaser (Renee) of Bolivar, MO; a special nephew, Gary Rogers (Jolayne) of Belton; special "cousins" Mike and Jeff, Judy and Penny, and other relatives and friends.
