Obituary
Roberta Maxine Evans, 91, Liberty, MO, formerly of Adrian, MO, died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Cedars of Liberty, Liberty, MO. Funeral services 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 5 at the Atkinson Chapel, Adrian, MO, with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to Northland Regional Hospice, c/o Atkinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Adrian, MO 64720.
Maxine was born September 7, 1917 near Adrian, MO, the daughter of Harley and Mollie (Greer) Davidson. She was united in marriage to Del E. Evans at her parent's home near Adrian on December 25, 1938.
Maxine was a homemaker, a hard worker, and the right hand for her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was an avid quilter. Her accomplishments included quilting several hundred quilts for her family and friends, cooking for the students at Albany High School, and working in the Archie Library. Her last few years at Houston Plaza and Cedars were filled with many new friends and numerous activities, especially Bingo, that brought her great joy.
Maxine attended Dillon Grade School in Bates County, MO and graduated from Adrian High School in 1935. She was honored for 50 years as a member of the Adrian Eastern Star. She was a member of the Adrian Baptist Church.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Del, in 1979, her brother, John Virgil Davidson in 1952 and one grandson, Anthony Evans, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Ford and her husband, Ron, Liberty, MO; her son, David Evans and his wife, Sherry, Sheridan, MO; five grandchildren, Stephanie Brown and her husband, Chris, Sue Hatcher and her husband, Mike, Kent Gillespie and his wife, Carolyn, David Evans, Jr. and Mark Gillespie and his wife, Amy; four step-grandchildren, Ed Jacobs and his wife, Diane, Julie Cassavaugh and her husband, Keith, Tammy McGhee and her husband, Jonas and Brandy Welch and her husband, James; 9 great-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
