Robert Dale Gibson, Sr., 73, Belton, MO, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. A memorial tribute was held Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville, MO.

Robert was born February 28, 1944 in Kansas City, KS, the son of John W. and Mabel C. (Reed) Gibson, Sr. He married Gladys "Pearl" Schafer on September 6, 1963 in Kansas City, MO. Robert was a member and former Deputy Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Belton, MO. Robert was a Cub Scout Master and leader of Cub Scouts #416 in Ruskin Heights. He was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church in Belton. He enjoyed building model cars and performing as "Papa Clown" and making balloon animals.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John W. Gibson, Jr., and one sister, Joan Guard. He is survived by his wife, Pearl of the home; one son, Robert D. Gibson, Jr., Belton, MO; two daughters, Penny Porter and husband, Leonard, Belton, and Wendy Roberts and husband, David, Butler, MO; one brother, Archie Gibson and wife, Vickie, Pleasant Hill, MO; one sister, Nancy Smith and husband, Bob, Kansas City, KS; 7 grandchildren, Pamela McCubbin, Tyler Williams, Jessica Roberts, Brittney Gibson, Holly Roberts, Nicholas Porter, Skilyn Roberts; 6 great-grandchildren, Emily, Quinton, Elijah, Kaitlyn, Jr., and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.
